Patty Kartchner
Patty Kartchner
Patty Kartchner comes to Pacific Midwifery upon completion of her
Nurse-Midwifery degree at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland,
graduating in June 2009.
Patty has been a doula and childbirth educator since the mid 1980s, having
taught hundreds of couples in private, hospital, and health
department
classes and attending over 100 births as a doula in home and hospital
settings. She has also served as lactation support in a variety of
settings-hospital, home, and health departments.
Patty received her B.S. in Zoology from Brigham Young University in 1985, pregnant with her 4th child on graduation day. Sometimes she jokes that the Zoology degree helped her run her own personal zoo, as she and her husband are the parents of 7 wonderful children. She was a pre-med student when she realized she wanted to be a mother more than a physician, and had been a full time mother before returning to school to study midwifery.
Active in her church, Patty also enjoys reading, cooking, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, gardening, backpacking, hiking, playing with her 6+ grandchildren, and quiet time with her husband.
Patty enthusiatically mentors doula and midwifery students. Her passion is advocating for childbearing families. She considers it a privilege to serve them as a midwife.
